A portion of the Los Angeles Aqueduct is visible in the foothills west of Red Rock Canyon State Park in the Mojave Desert. Water from the Owens Valley is diverted into a series of aqueducts and siphons that deliver it to Los Angeles. These water works transport the water over 200 miles and across one of the driest regions in the American Southwest.
