Cosco Busan Oil Spill, San Francisco Bay, 2007 (Environmental Disaster)On November 7, 2007 the Cosco Busan container ship spilled an estimated 58,000 gallons of bunker fuel into San Francisco Bay after striking a tower of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Five days later there was still a massive clean-up effort underway and many beaches in the area were closed, including Crissy Field which is featured here. Thousands of birds and other sea life were effected by the spill.
