On November 7, 2007 the Cosco Busan container ship spilled an estimated 58,000 gallons of bunker fuel into San Francisco Bay after striking a tower of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Five days later there was still a massive clean-up effort underway and many beaches in the area were closed, including Crissy Field which is featured here. Thousands of birds and other sea life were effected by the spill.
