Wildfires (forest fires, brush fires, grass fires) can cause catastrophic damage to natural resources and personal property. Fires also emit large amounts of greenhouse gas (CO2) that contributes to global warming and cause extensive air pollution. Regrowth of forests and other vegetation takes a significant amount of time but is part of the natural process.
